Officially opened Summer EYOF 2022 in Banska Bystrica, the Croatian flag was borne by Jana Koščak and Petar Šprem

Banska Bystrica, July 24, 2022 - The sixteenth summer edition of the 2022 European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Banska Bystrica was officially opened in the central square of the host city, with facilities that were subordinated to the sports youth of the Old Continent.

From 24 to 30 July, more than 2200 athletes from 48 national Olympic committees will compete in 10 sports in four central Slovak destinations, with full gender equality at all events.

Croatia is represented at EYOF with 44 male athletes and 32 female athletes aged 14 to 18, and will compete in eight sports (Athletics, Badminton, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Basketball, Swimming and Handball). In collective sports, three of our teams will participate - basketball players and female and male handball players.

Athletics’ heptathlon athlete Jana Košcak, winner of gold at the recent European Junior Championships (U18) in Jerusalem and highly promising handball player Petar Šprem carried the Croatian flag in the parade of participants at the EYOF Opening Ceremony.

As early as on Monday, 25 July, many of our hopes will perform in sports venues: in Athletics Anna Ćurković, Frane Delonga and Olja Galić, in Badminton Jelena Buchberger and Roko Pipunić, in Swimming Mia Hren, Jana Pavalić, Lucijana Lukšić, Roko Krpina and Vito Polanščak; Handball players will fight against the Icelanders, female Handball players against the Norwegian and Basketball players will fight against the French.

The European Olympic Committees (EOCs) will broadcast a number of competitions live on their channel https://eoctv.org/live/ , ensuring that many of the results created by young European stars can be watched across the continent.
