Safeguarding Children in Sport (GUARD)
The project is designed to implement the guidelines for safeguarding children in sport from 2022. Its goal is to establish an effective system for protecting children in sport at the national level. Primarily, it involves the appointment and training of child safeguarding officers in national sports federations so that they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to pass on to safeguarding officers in sports clubs. Through the training program, 140 child safeguarding officers in national sports federations will be trained as a foundation for the further development of the child safeguarding system in sport at all levels.
The Croatian Olympic Committee coordinates the implementation of the project in collaboration with 7 partner organizations: the Ministry of Tourism and Sport, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the Lithuanian Olympic Committee, the North Macedonian Olympic Committee, the Polish Olympic Committee, the Romanian Olympic Committee, and the Slovenian Olympic Committee. The project will be implemented from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026.
