Zagreb, April 10, 2019 - President of National Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang who, at the invitation of Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, is in an official visit to Croatia, signed - among many bilateral agreements from various fields - also the one on sports cooperation between the two countries. The Memorandum between the Croatian Central State Office for Sports and Directorate General for Sports of the People's Republic of China on Cooperation in the Field of Sports was signed by the Deputy State Secretary for Sports Krešimir Šamija and Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia Hu Zhaoming.
- The Memorandum on Cooperation will contribute to the promotion of cooperation relationship in the field of sports, mutual understanding and friendship among the athletes and people of these two countries and it provides inter alia the cooperation in encouraging the athletes to participate in international sports competitions to be held in each of the countries, as well as encouraging the national sports federations to establish direct connections with the aim of strengthening exchange and cooperation. One has also emphasized the promotion of exchange and cooperation between sports experts in the fields of competitive sports, sports for all, sports science and sports medicine and cooperation in the field of training of coaches and sending them to the second participant’s country, as well as cooperation in the fight against doping and other non-sports behavior in the field of sport- as stated in the announcement sent by the Central State Office for Sports to Hina.
The signed Memorandum is only a continuation of an excellent cooperation with Chinese sports officials established also by certain Croatian NOC’s members (national sports federations). In mid-December last year the Memorandum on Cooperation, which includes the exchange of coaches and athletes, was signed by the representatives of the Chinese sports and Croatian Table Tennis Federation.
