Zagreb, August 31, 2015. Within the SCORE project, the European Non-Governmental Sport Organization (ENGSO) - in cooperation with the European sports organizations including the Croatian Olympic Committee - called for cooperation in the educational mentorship program for female coaches that are evidently chronically under-represented in sports and insufficiently involved in the processes of education and advancement in their profession.

The Croatian example is not an exemption and, therefore, the Commission for Women in Sports - under the leadership of the President Morana Paliković Gruden, who is also the Vice-President of the Croatian Olympic Committee – made a move in this direction. Namely, the Commission prompted this question through active promotion of participation of Croatian female coaches, whose number is very small, in the SCORE project.

The aim of this educational program is to create an efficient mentoring system in sports organizations in order to overcome not only the obstacles female coaches are faced with but also often inadequate social perception of their role at all the levels of sports.

The SCORE project is supported by the EU Program Erasmus + Sports programme, and the leading role in the part of the project referring to the development of strategies for raising awareness and support to the gender equality among coaches will be played by the UK’s national agency for sports – Sports Coach UK.
