Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018
The XXIII. Olympic Winter Games will be held in Pyeongchang (Republic of Korea), from February 9th to February 25th 2018. The decision was brought at the International Olympic Committee’s 123rd session in Durban (Republic of South Africa) and besides Durban, and the other candidates that applied to host the Games were the cities of Annecy (France) and Munich (Germany).
South Korea's city of Pyeongchang is situated in the province of Gangwon, in the Taebaek Mountains, 180 km east of Seoul, the city-host of Olympics in 1988. During the Winter Olympics, the city of Pyeongchang that counts 43,703 inhabitants will host around 26 thousand people, of whom there will be around 6,000 athletes from 80 countries.
The program of Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang comprises biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton, curling, ice hockey, luge, figure skating, speed skating and short track speed skating, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, freestyle skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping and snowboarding.
The Croatian Olympic Committee’s Office in charge for Olympic program foresees - based on the past experience and sports results – the performance of approximately 10 to 15 Croatian athletes in four to five sports. The project on preparations and performances of Croatian athletes at the Winter Olympics Pyeongchang 2018 has been approved at the session of the Council, held in December 2014.

PyeongChang, February 20, 2018 - After finishing the two-men bobsleigh competition contest, Croatian bobsleighers turned to their "original" version - the four-men bobsleigh. There was no classic downhill training (the track is being refurbished and arranged) but day-to-day gathering that was actually, this time, far from a common daily-based one.

PyeongChang, February 18, 2018 – The competitions in bobsleigh started at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChong as well and - for the first time in its sport history - Croatia had its representatives in Two-men bobsleigh. At the previous three Olympic Games, Croatia competed in four-men bobsleigh only.

PyeongChang, February 18, 2018 - Best Croatian skier Filip Zubčić took the 24th place at the Winter Olympics’ Giant Slalom race in PyeongChang. Zubčić was 23rd in the first run and in the second "lauf" (run) he did not manage to achieve any significant improvements in his placement.

WINTER OLYMPICS: Natko Zrnčić Dim 29th in Super-G, Andrea Komšić 31st in Slalom
PyeongChang, February 16, 2018 – There were four Croatian Olympians participating in the double Alpine skiing program at the Winter Olympics in PyeongChang on Friday. In the Super-G race at Jeongseon, Natko Zrnčić-Dim took 29th place (2.61 seconds slower than the winner), while Filip Zubčić failed to finish the race. -

Daria Obratov finished Winter Olympics at 27th place in Luge, ski sprinters above 60 in Classical
PyeongChang, February 13, 2018 - The first Croatian representative in Luge at the Winter Olympics, Daria Obratov, took the 27th place in the overall Olympics’ ranking. After the first three runs, she failed to qualify for the last, fourth run, that is, the finals. -
Crnković 53rd in his Olympic debut in Cross-Country Skiing, Dadić without result
PyeongChang, February 10, 2018 – Second day of Winter Olympics in PyeongChang brought the first appearances of the Croatian Olympians. The athletes that opened the Olympics for Croatia were Nordic disciplines’ athletes – cross-country skiers Edi Dadić and Krešimir Crnković instead of initially announced Alpine skier Natko Zrnčić Dim. -
