Minsk, June 23, 2019 – The Croatian representatives at the second European Games in Minsk (June 21-30) finished the third day of competitions by winning two medals. The historical gold was won by Lucija Babić in Sambo, after beating the Ukrainian Kateryna Moskalova with a convincing 4-0 in the finals. In the quarterfinals, Babić defeated the Belarusian Namazava with 3-0 and in the semifinals the Moldova’s Budeanu with 3-2. Since it is a sport typical for the former Soviet Union states (Sambo is a combination of several martial arts, and in translation from the Russian reads: Self-defense without weapons), the success of the Croatian athlete is to be extremely valued.
