Zagreb, 11 February 2021 - President of the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) Zlatko Mateša organized at the premises of the National Olympic Association the reception for the most experienced active Croatian ambassador Dr. Drago Štambuk. Although he is currently Ambassador to Iran, Dr. Štambuk left an indelible mark in Japan during his ambassadorial work from 2005 to 2010, and in the small town of Tokamachi his idea of a symbolic connection between two nations - the House of Japanese-Croatian Friendship - was realized.

Zagreb, 17 January 2021 - On this day 29 years ago, the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) was admitted to the International Olympic Family. This happened only two days after the international recognition of the Republic of Croatia, when the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) provisionally recognized the NOC of Croatia, thus allowing the Croatian athletes, to participate – in the very same year - at the Winter Olympics in Albertville and at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona. -

Zagreb, January 11, 2021 - Pharmakon distribucija d.o.o. from Zagreb, founded in 2013 and registered for wholesale trade of pharmaceutical products, donated to the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO) a quantity of tests for detecting the presence of coronavirus in the body - PCL COVID 19 Ag Gold Saliva. It is a new antigenic saliva test that is very easy to apply. Namely, it can be carried out at any time and the result is obtained already in five to ten minutes. -

The Project Walking Around the Earth, conceived by the Professor Juraj Horžić, won the first prize in the Education category, having previously entered among the three finalists on the continental level. -
Matea Parlov Koštro run the marathon and met the Olympic norm for Tokyo
Valencia, 6 December 2020 - Croatian marathon runner Matea Parlov Koštro, 27, met the Olympic norm for next year's Tokyo Olympics, after running a marathon in Valencia in 2:28.52 on Sunday, achieving thus also her personal best. Parlov Koštro, 27, “went after” the norm of 2:29:30, and also improved her personal best of 2:32.43, which she ran in February last year in Seville. -

Croatian Olympic Committee highlighted as an example of good practice in International Olympic Committee’s survey on gender equality in sports
Zagreb, 2 December 2020 – During 2019 and 2020, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) conducted an extensive research on gender equality in sports. In the published report on results of the survey (Gender Equality Survey Results) and report on examples of good practice from the National Olympic Committees (Good Practice Examples from NOC), the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) that operates in this field through the work of the Gender Equality in Sport Commission, was highlighted as one of the examples of good practice. -

EPOSM: More than 5000 completed questionnaires
On November 6, 2020, the EPOSM project (“Evidence-based Prevention Of Sporting-related Match-fixing”) successfully ended its data collection. During a period of approximately six months, an online questionnaire on match-fixing has been conducted in seven European countries (i.e., Austria, Belgium, Croatia, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and United Kingdom). -

Croatian Olympic Committee congratulated Nikola Mektić on winning the final Masters of the season and Mate Pavić on World’s No. 1 in Doubles
Zagreb, 22 November 2020 - Croatian tennis players Nikola Mektić and Mate Pavić achieved two extremely valuable successes in the week behind us. After pairing with Dutchman Wesley Koolhof in the ATP Finals in London, Mektić became the first Croat to win the Nitto ATP Finals i.e. the season-ending championships of the ATP Tour (tournament of the season's best eight pairs). He rounded-up his year-long cooperation with the Dutchman with his first triumph in this year’s third appearance in the finals. It was Mektić's 16th finals in the career and eighth won title of the winner. -

Zagreb, 21 November 2020 - On the last day of the Senior European Judo Championships, hosted by Prague, the member of the Croatian national team Karla Prodan won a bronze medal in the -78kg category. It is a confirmation of her excellent season, as she has already won a silver medal at the recent Junior European Championships held in Poreč in September this year. -
Croatian Olympic Committee as an example of management practice in the IOC's book Managing Olympic Sports Organizations
Zagreb, November 17, 2020 - Olympic Solidarity of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) published the second, supplemented edition of the book ManagingOlympicSportOrganizations, abbrev. MOSO. In relation to the first edition from 2013, the book also contains a text on human resources management at the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC), as an example of management in times of crisis. At the request of the International Olympic Committee, the text on COC management practices was written by the Croatian Olympic Committee’s European Union Programs; Funds and EU Program Coordinator Alma Papić. -
Međimurje is our first county with title of the European Region of Sport 2022
Čakovec, 11 November 2020 - Međimurje, the beautiful northernmost corner of Our Beautiful Country, became the first Croatian county with a flattering title of the European Region of Sport for 2022. Vice President of the Community of Sports Associations and Federations of Međimurje County Mario Vukoja and Secretary Tomica Jakopec informed the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) on the same and expressed their thanks for the COC’s support in their candidacy. -

Zagreb, 24 October 2020 - Trophy Croatian crossbow shooter Valentina Pereglin is the winner of another prestigious award for a fair play move from 2019. The International Fair Play Committee informed the Croatian Olympic Committee that the great 26-year-old athlete from Dubrava in Vrbovec has been awarded the world fair play trophy "Pierre de Coubertin - The Act of Fair Play". -
Mimi Vurdelja and Neven Šavora from the Croatian Olympic Committee winners of the Annual State Award for Sports Franjo Bučar 2020
Zagreb, October 22, 2020 - Two employees of the Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) - Head of Athletes’ Health Care Program Mimi Vurdelja and Head of the Research and Development Program Enhancement Department Neven Šavora are the winners of the national State Award for Sports Franjo Bučar for 2020 in the category of annual laureates. Besides them, a member of the Croatian Olympic Committee’s Council Željan Konsuo will also receive the same recognition for this year. Other winners of the annual award are Pero Kuterovac, Bruno Bošnjak, Slaven Zambata, Stojko Vranković, Slavko Cvitković, Paulo Obradović, Rea Hraski, Matija Gubica and Boris Milošević.
